This beautiful Candle Light Blessing is a meaningful papercut artwork made from 100% acid-free paper. It celebrates the sacred tradition of the Shabbat candle-lighting ceremony and honors light, faith, and continuity in the Jewish home.
Every Shabbat, just before sundown, a Jewish woman lights the Shabbat candles and recites a special blessing. Through this timeless ritual, she welcomes peace, warmth, and spiritual intention into the home. For this reason, I created this papercut as a tribute to that intimate and powerful moment, passed lovingly from generation to generation.
At the center of the artwork, the Hebrew blessing for the Shabbat candles appears in clear black type. In addition, the piece includes extra prayers traditionally recited by Jewish women, which add emotional and spiritual depth. These sacred words create a strong focal point and guide the eye naturally through the design.
Around the Candle Light blessing, my original papercut design frames the text with precision and care. Using delicate laser cutting, I build layers that add movement, dimension, and elegance. As a result, the composition feels both refined and deeply meaningful.
I create each piece by hand with close attention to detail and quality. I use two layers—the papercut layer and the background layer—both crafted from acid-free paper. This choice ensures durability while preserving the beauty of the artwork over time.
