The Woman of Valor, known in Hebrew as Eshet Chayil, is a hymn traditionally recited on Friday evenings. Families say it after returning from the synagogue and after singing Shalom Aleichem. They recite it just before sitting down to the Shabbat evening meal. In this way, the poem honors the woman of the home as Shabbat begins.
King Solomon concludes the Book of Proverbs with Eshet Chayil (Proverbs 31), a poem of twenty-two verses. Each verse begins with a successive letter of the Hebrew alphabet, creating an acrostic structure. Through this form, the poem describes the woman of valor as energetic, righteous, and capable.
This artwork features a beautiful papercut design decorated with delicate pomegranate leaves and flowers. As a result, the piece feels rich in symbolism and natural elegance.
I create the papercut using two layered papers, off-white and gold. I then mount it onto a solid color background, which adds depth and contrast to the design.
This Woman of Valor papercut makes a meaningful housewarming gift for a wife. In addition, it suits anniversaries and other occasions that celebrate appreciation and devotion.
